Abstract

Introduction: Tobacco and alcohol consumption are the two unhealthy behaviors in the society that often being during adolescence More than one-half of individuals receiving treatment for alcohol use disorders die from tobacco-related diseases The global statistics on alcohol, tobacco status report said that quarter of a billion hours of healthy human life are lost each year because of smoking and drinking. Globally one in seven adults smoke, while five in one drink. This substantial burden of distress reduces physical and psychological functioning, ultimately decreasing health-related quality of life. Objectives: The main aim of the present study is to assess the psychological distress in tobacco and alcohol induced patients. To document the risk of alcohol consumption and smoking status in psychological distress patients. To determine the psychological distress by assessing the patients duration of consumption. To assess the comorbidities involved in psychological distress patients. To evaluate patterns of diagnosing in psychological distress patients. To assess the distress in patients by using kessler-10 scale. Method: Cross Sectional Questionnaire based study conducted in government general hospital among 200 patients for 6 months. Data was collected from patients by FAST+AUDIT, WHO tobacco consumption questionnaire and K-10 questionnaire through interviewing each subject. Results: The majority of the patients (50%) were in age group of 41-50years. Males are more prone to this psychological distress. Most common initiation interdependence of these habits are 41-40 years and 17% are suffering with co-morbidities. A total of 168(84%) have social habits. 129 patients are with Possible dependence in psychological distress. 129 patients are with Moderate risk based on K-10 scale questionnaire. Conclusion: Clinical pharmacist main provision is providing care to individual patients by patient counselling, regarding the excessive consumption of alcohol and their comorbidities.
